dealing Depression, Incarceration, and Suicidal thoughts. She took those students on an Underground Railroad Study Trip to retrace the steps of Harriet Tubman from Chicago to Detroit, Michigan to freedom in Niagara Falls, Canada.
She wanted young people to understand that life’s struggle is something we all deal with but that those troubles don’t last always. She was consistently there for her students and colleagues encouraging them and letting them know that the things you are going through are only temporary that “This Too Shall Pass”.
She brought a joy and laughter to the classrooms for all teachers and students. This explains why so many students were present at her funeral. She was always ready to fight for our children which is why I am so motivated to continue that fight for our students as well as our teachers!
